The Safer Drivers Course has 2 parts
(conducted on two different days):
Module 1: three hours in class facilitation
Module 2: Two hours on the road with a coach.
- Learners must have completed a minimum of 50 logbook hours.
- Completion of modules 1 and 2 learners will receive 20 hours off the required 120 logbook hours.
- The course is designed to prepare learners for the responsibility of driving on their own once they obtain their provisional licence.
- Courses will be run throughout the month, subject to availability, which covers Blacktown, Seven Hills, Castle Hill, Rouse Hill, Quakers Hill, Stanhope Gardens, Kellyville, Glenwood, Bella Vista, Riverstone, Lalor Park, Woodcroft, Prospect, Mt Druitt, Minchinbury, and Plumpton.
- The price for the Safer Drivers Course is $140.
- This training is intended for learner drivers aged 16-24 years.
- The purpose of course is to build awareness of safe driving behaviours that lead to apply low risk driving attitudes when learner drivers move a step ahead to provisional licence.
- Facilitators and coaches should recognise learner drivers are entering adulthood so their delivery of modules needs to follow a more adult approach while still accommodating the communication needs of young people.
- This course will open free discussion of topics in positive language to make all learner drivers interested and participants in sessions.
- The course is conducted in accordance with the most current version of the Curriculum notified by RMS.
- The course is conducted professionally in accordance with all standards, policies and procedures notified by RMS.
Course set up
- Completion of the course requires the participant to first attend and complete the Facilitated Group Discussion (Module One) followed by the in -Vehicle Module (Module Two).
- Module one is a facilitated group discussion module (3 hours) to build safe decisions, low risk driving and understanding of risks.
- Module two is an in- vehicle coaching module (two hours) to practise how to apply low risk driving strategies when driving.
- Module Two must be completed as soon as possible after finishing Module One or within 4 weeks because learner drivers will remember more of what they have learnt in Module one, which will make it easier to apply on the road.
- Learner drivers must be advised of the requirement during the booking process and before enrolment and payment is accepted.
